About Dr Nagaonkar

Dr Santoshi Nagaonkar was born in India. With a strong family background in medicine, it was not surprising for him to join the medical field, which he did in 1989. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine degree in 1994 and specialised in General Surgery in 1998. During his surgical training, he developed a particular interest in urological diseases. He then pursued a three-year super speciality course in Urological Surgery from Mumbai, India. He was also awarded a National Gold Medal (Diplomate National Board) in his Urology exit examination. After moving to Australia, he also obtained Australasian College of Surgeon’s qualification (FRACS).
He worked in urology departments at Port Macquarie Hospital and Repatriation General Hospital, South Australia before taking up the job in Taree, New South Wales. Dr Nagaonkar has offered his services to patients in and around Taree since March 2005.
He has presented and published a number of publications in various international journals.
His special interests have been prostate cancer, laparoscopic urological surgery (keyhole surgery) and stone surgery.
Dr Nagaonkar has been instrumental in developing the urology departments at the Manning Rural Referral Hospital and the Mayo Private Hospital in Taree.
The Greenlight HPS laser system for BPH (enlarged prostate) and Holmium StoneLight laser have been recently introduced to Dr Nagaonkar’s armamentarium. The Mayo Private Hospital, Taree is one of only a few hospitals across Australia to acquire this advanced technology.
